Estimated read time 5 min read

If you don’t know the television show ‘Dance Moms’, it was first based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at The Abbey Lee Dance Company; in the first series, the show starred aspiring young dancers Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler, Chloe Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Nia Frazier, and for part of the series, Vivi-Anne Stein. The television show featured lots of ‘drama’ from the competitive dance moms, as they all wanted their child to be the best dancer. The show also had plenty of on-stage performances that were performed in nationwide dance competitions; in a week the girls would have to learn a group dance, and possibly a solo to perform at the competition. If you are interested in watching this television show, you can find it on the TV Channel Hayu, or you can even watch past series on Netflix; if you are having issues with your aerial, or need a new one fitted, you might want to get in touch with a Stroud Aerial Installation company such as http://steveunettaerials.co.uk/services/tv-aerial-repair-and-installation-stroud/, or an aerial installation company near you who can supply and fit a new aerial, or can repair your current one.

Maddie Ziegler

Maddie was always seen as Abbey’s ‘favourite’ throughout the series; she regularly had a lot of pressure put on her by dance teachers and her mom Melissa, in which Maddie later admitted had put her under a lot of stress. At the age of 11, she became the dancer in award-winning artist, Sia’s music videos ‘Chandelier’, ‘Elastic Heart’, and many more; she showed the confidence and maturity way beyond her years, which really set her apart from other young dancers. She went on to win many dance competitions and titles that made her a true dance prodigy.

Mackenzie Ziegler

Mackenzie starred on Dance Moms alongside her sister Maddie, she was only 6 years old when she appeared in series 1; she was sadly never praised as much as her sister Maddie and was compared to her on a regular basis. Mackenzie found a love for singing and music, so she then became a singer under the name MackZ; she then went on to produce many studio singles such as ‘Girl Party’, and ‘Shine’. She decided to pursue music more than dance as it was an activity where she wasn’t compared to with Maddie. Today she has over 13 million followers on Instagram and has become a famous singer.

Jo Jo Siwa

Jojo joined the cast of Dance Moms in season 5 after appearing in Abbey’s Ultimate Dance Competition; in the show, JoJo displayed a lot of confidence and personality which really set her apart from her competition, but she was criticized by Abbey and the Moms for being overconfident and loud. After leaving Dance Moms she released new songs called ‘Boomerang’ and ‘Kid in a Candy Store’. Jojo is also a YouTuber who creates fun challenge videos and vlogs. Her iconic style of colourful and in your face clothing, along with big hair bows have really influenced the style of young girls from all over the world.

Kalani Hilliker

Kalani appeared on Dance Moms halfway through series 4 as she had also previously starred on Abbey’s Ultimate Dance Competition. Kalani was known for her amazing flexibility, posture, and controlled legs and feet, so this really made her a strong member of the team. Kalani had featured in a number of music videos done by her fellow Dance Mom stars and had also starred on a number of TV shows such as ‘Shake It Up’ and ‘Americas Got Talent’.

Chloe Lukasiak

Chloe Lukasiak was known for being one of Abbey’s most talented dancers on the show, and this was because of her amazing ballet technique and strong posture. She was not a popular dancer with Abbey though, as her mom and Abbey regularly got into verbal fights, and it was usually Chloe that would suffer the consequences. She started to dislike going to dance due to Abbey’s harsh actions. She sadly left the show at the end of season 4 due to a big argument between Abbey and her mom. Since leaving ‘Dance Moms’, Chloe has starred on many TV shows and films, and she has even released her own book. She continues to dance as a hobby. In 2015 she won the award for ‘Choice Dancer’ at the Teen Choice Awards.

Nia Frazier

Nia was sadly known as the underdog on the show, she displayed strong dancing talents but was not a firm favourite with her dance teacher, Abbey – she was regularly at the bottom of the pyramid. She now regularly posts vlogs and challenge videos on her YouTube channel and is a Social Media Influencer. Nia has also released a number of studio singles such as Slay, and Winner.
